A couple of months ago I bought a deal off of Living Social. It was for 3 infrared body wraps at a local tanning salon. I watched some You Tube videos on it and my curiosity was peaked. I've had this deal for a while and finally got around to scheduling my first session this week. They had an opening for Thursday so I took it. I was told to bring a change of clothes with me that were loose and long sleeved. Absolutely no metal. I went in for my appointment with no clue what to expect. The girl helping me was super nice. She led me to a small room and told me I could go ahead and get changed and I would probably want to go to the bathroom. Okay. I can do that. After I had changed into my loose fitting long sleeved clothes she had me get onto a bed where she wrapped my butt, belly, arms and legs in some wraps with cords attached. She went over all the safety instructions and said I could read, look at my phone, nap, whatever, I just can't walk around or lay on my sides or belly. Basically I had to lay flat on the bed for an hour. Ugh. I am not a still person. I am always doing something. So she turned me on and left the room. I laid there and read a magazine I brought with me. About 5 minutes in I started getting warm. After about 10 minutes I was really warm. The girl came back to check on me and see how I was doing. She brought me a bottle of water and turned on a fan. Whew! A little relief. After about 15 minutes I was sweating. Not glistening or having a light sweat. I was starting to pour buckets. Wow! That was unexpected. Another strange thing was happening. I felt very relaxed. I even closed my eyes for a little bit. So, I laid there in my pool of sweat completely relaxed. The girl came in about every 10 minutes to check on me. I guess to make sure I didn't fry or keel over dead or something horrible. My hour went by much quicker than I expected. I was a little sad I was done. Now I knew that I had been sweating. I could feel it on my neck. When I stood up to change my pants were wet, my shirt was wet and the sheets were soaked where I had been laying. Wetter than I am after a spin class. Um....gross. Sorry about that. Does everyone sweat so much? Sheesh. I had to run home after my appointment and change my underwear because those were soaked too. I didn't think to bring extra drawers! The girl told me that my skin might be red. It's not burned, that's just where the blood had been brought to the surface. No kidding. I look like I have been whipped. There are just bands of bright red on my skin. She also said that I needed to drink lots of water during the day. And, if I started to get a headache I should drink some Gatorade or Coconut Water. Wow....okay. Water. Electrolytes for a headache. Okay. I can do this. I have drank a ton of water today. Tonight I have a dull headache. We have no Gatorade in the house. I'm pretty sure I have never drank coconut water. Oh well. I'll go to bed soon. The rest of today I have felt very relaxed and kinda....um....worn out? I'm not sure how to describe it other than worn out. It's weird. I have two more left on my Living Social deal. I'm going back Saturday. I'm curious to see if I sweat as much. And if I have any results from this.
You can't see my pants, but those are wet too. |
IDK if I could lay still on my back that long... I am NOT a back sleeper! Sounds disgustingly fun :)
